About us
A school built on discipline, dignity and hard work
Dlangezwa High School has served the KwaDlangezwa community for decades, growing from a small rural secondary school into one of the district's most respected public high schools.
Our history
From humble beginnings
Dlangezwa High School opened its doors to serve learners from KwaDlangezwa and the surrounding areas of Empangeni. What began with a handful of classrooms and a determined staff has grown into a school of more than 1 200 learners.
Situated a short distance from the University of Zululand, the school has long drawn strength from that proximity — through tutoring partnerships, career guidance and alumni who return to teach and mentor.
Our badge carries an eagle above an open book and the words Studendo Procedimus — “by studying we advance”. It is the promise we make to every family that entrusts a child to us.
Our vision
To be a centre of academic excellence in KwaZulu-Natal where every learner is equipped to pursue higher education, meaningful work and responsible citizenship.
Our mission
To deliver quality CAPS-aligned teaching in a safe, disciplined environment, supported by dedicated educators, engaged parents and strong community partnerships.
Our values
Respect, integrity, diligence and ubuntu. We hold one another to a high standard and lift those who need help along the way.

Principal's welcome
Welcome to our school community
On behalf of the staff, the school governing body and our learners, thank you for visiting Dlangezwa High School.
We are a school that believes potential is everywhere — it simply needs structure, encouragement and honest work to reveal itself. Our teachers arrive early and stay late. Our learners are expected to be punctual, prepared and respectful. Our parents are partners, not spectators.
If you are considering our school for your child, come and see us. Walk the corridors, meet the teachers, and ask the hard questions. We will be glad to answer them.
